MISSION
Temple Emanu-El, a member of the Union for Reform Judasim, is committed to a Jewish way of life. The Temple is a place of worship for all facets of Judaism, and welcomes interfaith couples.
A BRIEF HISTORY
Founded in 1957, Temple Emanu-El is a Jewish house of worship in Longview, Texas. As the Jewish population of Longview grew, it became necessary to have a facility for worship and education. Construction began in 1955 with Ben Balter as president of the congregation, and Rabbi Daniel Kerman as the spiritual leader. Temple Emanu-El, and the Temple Emanu-El Cemetery (located in Memory Park) are both recipients of Texas historical designations.
